ENThe school plays a significant role in every system of a country education, particularly, for the background for further human's possibility for life long learning. This article highlights changes of Lithuanian schools in the period of the country independency by methodological assumption. Also it provides an extension of the concepts and simulation (modelling) in the context of the education system. The aim of the article is to provide the assumption of the design of a projected future school. The object is the school in the future perspective aspect. The methods: literature review, document analyses, modeling. The article consists of the two following parts: description of retrospective of the school projecting and methodological assumption of the future school. It also addresses importance of the future school projecting as well as its context. Attention is drawn to the educational reform at the beginning of the prevailed triangle: the concept of the school, the laws and other documents, situation analysis and guidelines. All this had a clear reference point for the methodological and the school activities were modeled according to their environment. The third reform stage lacks the education system as a whole, and the structural part of the general-education schools to the methodological design, uncertain of their direction and its simulation. Possible scenarios of the future design of schools are framed based on the British debate, published in the journal "Education for the future.". [From the publication]
