Sovijaus vardo etimologizavimo problematiškumas

LTStraipsnyje, remiantis autoriaus darbo su autentiškais pirminiais šaltiniais patirtimi, dar kartą naujai analizuojamas Sovijaus vardo, paliudyto 1262 m. Chronografe, etimologizavimo problematiškumas. Atkreipiamas dėmesys į tai, kad nuo 2005 m. žinomų, su Sovijaus vardu susijusių, tiriamųjų šaltinių - tekstų skaičius padvigubėjo. Pastebima, kad lyginant skirtingus šaltinio rankraščius, nagrinėjant šių rankraščių parašymo istoriją, iškyla naujos svarbios aplinkybės ir faktai, kurie verčia kai kurias anksčiau išsakytas išvadas formuluoti ne taip griežtai, ar net suabejoti, ar apskritai įmanoma patikima Sovijaus vardo etimologija. Didžiausias dėmesys straipsnyje skiriamas Chronografe esančios sakmės apie Sovijų ir tame pačiame šaltinyje už penkiolikos skyrių nuo baltiško tautosakinio naratyvo esančios Melchizedeko sakmės sugretinimui. Pasakojimų konstrukcijų sulyginimas liudija tekstologinę priklausomybę, genetinį ryšį tarp sugretintų fragmentų. Analogiškų rankraščio tekstų graikų ir senąja slavų kabomis sugretinimas leidžia daryti prielaidą, kad verstinis tekstas apie Melchizedeką galėjo lemti tautosakinės sakmės pradžią. Tai reiškia, kad Sovijaus vardas gali būti tik literatūrinės šaltinio autoriaus fantazijos padarinys. Daroma išvada, kad vargu ar galima patikimai priskirti Sovijaus vardą kurioms nors baltų kalboms: literatūrinė įtaka tekste per didelė, todėl rekomenduojama Sovijaus vardo kilmės klausimą perkelti iš kalbotyros lygmens į Viduramžių literatūros mokslo barus.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Etimologija; Pavadinimo daryba; Sovijaus vardas; Sovijus; Tekstologinė analizė; Derivation of the name; Etymology; Soviius; Textological analysis; The name Sovijus.

ENIn the article, the problems in establishing the etymology of name Sovijus, referred to in the Chronograph of 1262, are once again analysed based on the experience of the author’s work with authentic primary sources. It is highlighted that the number of known research sources-texts related to Sovijus name has doubled since 2005. It is observed that the comparison of manuscripts of different sources and the analysis of the history of these manuscripts reveal new important circumstances and facts that lead to less strict formulation of previous conclusions or even a question whether a reliable etymology of Sovijus names is possible in general. The major focus in the article is placed on the juxtaposition of the saga about Sovijus included in the Chronograph and the saga of Melchizedek in the same source, fifteen chapters after the Baltic folklore narrative. The comparison of the constructions of the stories evidences of a textological dependence, a genetic relation between the compared fragments. The juxtaposition of analogous manuscript texts in Greek and ancient Slavic allows for an assumption that the translated text about Melchizedek may have given the start of the folklore saga. This means that Sovijus name may be merely the outcome of the fantasy of the author of the literary source. It is concluded that Sovijus name could be hardly attributed reliably to any Baltic languages: the literary influence is too great in the text, therefore, it is recommended to transfer the issue of the origin of Sovijus name from the linguistic level to the areas of Medieval literature science.
