Moral strength metaphor in Lithuanian virtual political discourse

LTStraipsnyje analizuojama MORALĖS metaforos raiška virtualiame Lietuvos politiniame diskurse. Tyrinėjama, kaip ši metafora atskleidžia gerovės sampratą politiniame kontekste. Remtasi trisdešimčia straipsnių politikos temomis. Jie pasitelkti iš interneto tinklalapio www.politika.lt. Atlikta kognityvinė lingvistinė straipsnių analizė leidžia teigti, kad metafora MORALĖ virtualiame politiniame diskurse yra suvokiama kaip STIPRYBĖ. Tad konceptualioji MORALĖS metafora, dominuojanti Lietuvos politikų sąmonėje, yra MORALĖ KAIP STIPRYBĖ. Šią konceptualiąją metaforą sudaro tokios konceptualiosios projekcijos: MORALI SVEIKATA, MORALI SKAISTYBĖ, MORALUS KELIAS, MORALĖS RIBOS, MORALI VIENYBĖ. MORALĖS metaforos raiškos analizė atskleidė siaurą ir gana konservatyvų MORALĖS koncepcijos reikšmės pobūdį, vyraujantį virtualiame Lietuvos politiniame diskurse, MORALĖS sampratoje plačiąja prasme atitinkantį griežto tėvo šeimos modelį. ENThe present study aims at examining the MORALITY conceptual metaphor in Lithuanian virtual political discourse in the framework of cognitive linguistics. The material of the current research consists of thirty samples of the on-line political articles extracted from the website www.politika.lt. The method applied to analyze the MORALITY conceptual metaphor in Lithuanian virtual political discourse is that of hypothetical deduction combined with content analysis in the framework of cognitive linguistics. The findings reveal that the central underlying conceptual metaphor of the Lithuanian virtual political discourse is that of MORAL STRENGTH. The MORAL STRENGTH metaphor has been analysed as a complex conceptual system consisting of the following elements: MORAL PATH & BOUNDS, MORAL HEALTH & PURITY, and MORAL WHOLENESS. The analyzed metaphors gave evidence to the fact that Lithuanian political discourse is grounded in a very strict and narrow interpretation of morality, what has an equivalent in the family-based morality of the Strict Father Model.
