Legenda o rzymskim pochodzeniu Litwinów w świetle historiografii. Czas powstania i tendencje polityczne

LTPožiūris, kad romėnų kilmės teorija turėjusi antilenkišką pobūdį, naujausioje istoriografijoje mažiau pabrėžiamas lyginant su ankstesniąja. Anksčiau neatsižvelgta į aplinkybę, kad tas požiūris susiklostė lenkų ir lietuvių tautinio konflikto (XIX a. pab. – XX a. pr.) įkarštyje. Panašu, kad į XV a. lietuvių nuostatas žvelgta per vėlesnio lietuvių tautinio sąjūdžio aspiracijų prizmę. Tezė, kad lietuvių romėniškos kilmės legenda antilenkiška, turi argumentų nanalizuojant Bychovco kronikos tekstą. Šioje kronikoje akivaizdūs jos autoriaus (ar autorių) kompleksai santykiuose su lenkais. Tai akivaizdu ne tik fragmentuose, skirtuose lenkų ir lietuvių ginčui, bet ir, pvz., Žalgirio mūšio aprašymui. Šiaip ar taip, šiuo metu linkstama manyti, kad kalbėti vien apie politinės legendos antilenkišką pobūdį (kaip ir apie antimaskvietišką arba antirusišką), būtų didelis problemos supaprastinimas. Daugiau dėmesio verta skirti legendos reikšmei formuojant LDK politinę tautą. Lietuvių kilmės iš romėnų teorijoje verta daugiau dėmesio skirti ne vien etnogenetiniams aspektams, bet atsižvelgti ir į dinastinius aspektus (Jogailaičių aukštinimas). ENThe opinion that the theory of Roman origin had anti-Polish character is less emphasized in the recent historiography, when compared to the previous one. Previously the fact, that such an opinion formed under conditions of Polish and Lithuanian ethnic conflict in full swing (end of the 19th century – beginning of the 20th century), was ignored. It seems that Lithuanian attitudes of the fifteenth century have been seen through a prism of the subsequent aspirations of the Lithuanian national movement. Thesis that the Lithuanian legend of Roman origin has anti-Polish character has some arguments in analyzing texts of the Chronicles of Bychovc. In the Chronicles, the complex of the author (or authors) in relationship with Poles, is obvious. This is evident not only from fragments dedicated to Polish-Lithuanian dispute, but also from, for example, description of the battle of Grunwald. However, today there’s a tendency to believe that the talk about the mere anti-Polish (as well as only (anti-Muscovite or anti-Russian) character of the political legend would be a huge simplification of the problem. The implication of the legend in shaping the political nation of GDL deserves more attention. The theory of the Lithuanians’ Roman origin should take into account not only ethno-genetic aspects but also consider dynastic aspects (aggrandizement of the Jagiellonians). Finally, it’s worth emphasizing that recent studies of the problem concerned feature a trend to reject traditional interpretations of the legend, what in turn allows expecting a more in-depth understanding of the issue in question.
