LTXX a. antrojoje pusėje monografijose, tekstų rinkinių komentaruose, straipsniuose ir recenzijose pasirodė teiginių, kad pasaka „Eglė žalčių karalienė“ apie žaltį ir jo žmoną yra žinoma keletui tautų. Tai patvirtina ir Hanso Jorgo Uterio (Hans Jorg Uther) parengtas naujausias tarptautinis pasakų tipų katalogas (2004). Pirmieji du tomai supažindino su lietuvių ir latvių šios pasakos variantais, o trečiajame tome, skelbiama ne baltų kalbomis pasekta pasaka. Tai finų, slavų, romanų ir tiurkų kalbomis sukurti tekstai.

ENIn the late 20th century, claims that a fairytale “Eglė the Queen of Serpents” about a serpent and his wife are known to several nations appeared in monographs, comments to the collections of texts, articles and reviews. This is also confirmed by the most recent international catalogue of fairytale types compiled by Hans Jorg Uther (2004). The first two volumes acquaint the reader with the Lithuanian and Latvian variants of this fairytale, and the fairytale in languages other than the Baltic ones is published in the third volume. They are the texts created in the Finnic, Slavic, Romanic and Turkic languages.
