Kalnuotų vietų įvardijimas nekalnuotoje Lietuvos teritorijoje (remiantis Joniškio rajono vietovardžiais)

LTStraipsnyje aptariami Joniškio rajono, esančio gana lygioje -- Lietuvos šiaurinės Vidurio žemumos -- teritorijoje, kalnuotųjų vietų vardai (oronimai). Joniškio rajono oronimai yra išrašyti iš "Žemės vardų" anketų, saugomų Lietuvių kalbos instituto Vardyno skyriaus fonduose, ir straipsnio autorės užrašyti per ekspedicijas Joniškio rajone 2002--2004 m. Straipsnyje aptariami visi 216 vardų, kurie surinkti iš šnekamosios kalbos. Jie skirstomi į motyvuotuosius ir nemotyvuotuosius pagal tai, ar yra susiję su fiziografija, ar ne. Straipsnio autorės teigimu, Joniškio rajonui būdingi motyvuotieji oronimai, apibūdinantys kalnuotą vietą pagal kurią nors jos ypatybę (daugiausia pagal fiziografinį požymį -- žemės kokybę ir formą, florą, fauną arba ryšį su žmonėmis), tačiau gausumu išsiskiria ir naujesni posesyvinės reikšmės oronimai, kilę iš asmenvardžių. Nemotyvuotieji oronimai sudaro vieną dešimtadalį medžiagos. Šioje grupėje išsiskiria asmenvardinės kilmės oronimai, artimi posesyvinės reikšmės kalnuotų vietų vardams. Apibendrindama straipsnio autorė daro prielaidą, kad nekalnuotos Joniškio rajono teritorijos oronimijos įvardijimo polinkiai artimi bendriesiems kalnų įvardijimo polinkiams, tačiau pabrėžiamos daugiau nekalnuotam regionui būdingos ypatybės -- žemės kokybė, augalija, gyvūnija ir kalnuotos vietos ryšys su žmonėmis (posesyvumas, žmonių veiklos ypatybės). ENThe article deals with names for elevated spots in Joniškis District, in the lowlands of Northern Lithuania. In all, 216 names, collected from oral speech, are discussed. They are divided into motivated and unmotivated ones, according to whether they contain reference to physiography or not. Names based on physiographical features (properties and shape of the soil), flora, fauna or human inhabitation predominate, but there is also a sizeable group of more recent possessive formations based on proper names. Unmotivated names account for one tenth of the material. Names derived from proper names predominate here as well. Generalising we can say that most names of elevated spots in this region refer to physiographical features, flora, fauna and human inhabitation (property status and human activity). Apart from a semantic analysis, the article also provides data on folk etymology and oral tradition. [From the publication]The article discusses the oronyms of Joniškis region which is situated in a quite flat area of Lithuania – North Middle Lowland. The oronyms of Joniškis region are taken from the database of toponyms “Žemės vardai” stored at the Institute of Lithuanian Language, Department of Onomastics, and collected during the expeditions to the Joniškis region in 2002-2004. The article discusses all the 216 names collected from a spoken language. These are divided into motivated and non-motivated according to whether they are related to physiography or not. According to the author, Joniškis region is dominated by motivated oronyms referring to a certain feature of a mountainous location (usually a physiological feature – soil quality and shape, flora, fauna or relation with humans), however, there are also a lot of newer oronyms having possessive meaning which originated from personal names. Non-motivated oronyms account for one tenth of the total research material. This group is characterized by the oronyms originated from personal names close to the possessive oronyms. When making conclusions, the author presumes that the tendencies of naming the non-mountainous locations of Joniškis district are similar to those of naming mountains; however the features of non-mountainous regions – soil quality, flora, fauna, relation with humans (possessiveness, features of human activity) - are stressed. Besides semantic analysis, the article also presents some data from folk etymology and oral tradition.
