LTGintaro gavyba, apdirbimas ir prekyba dabartinės Lietuvos jūros pakrantėje per šimtmečius nuolat kito. Šioje sferoje veikę šeši istoriniai subjektai labai skirtingai suvokė gintaro verslą. Daugiausia medžiagos apie gintaro rinkimą, apdirbimą ir prekybą yra susijusi su Prūsijos pakrante. Tuo tarpu atitinkamų duomenų iš pakrantės ruožų, kuriuos valdė LDK ir Kuršo kunigaikštystė, nepakanka. Trūksta šaltinių ir apie valstybinį gintaro rinkimo, apdirbimo bei prekybos reguliavimą. Tad tolesniems moksliniams problemos tyrimams dar lieka labai daug erdvės. Gintaro gavybą ir apdirbimą Prūsijoje, Lietuvos Didžiojoje kunigaikštystėje ir Rusijos imperijoje reguliavo griežtos teisinės normos. Tačiau Rusijos imperijoje galvota griežtinti reguliavimą, kas vertinama kaip mėginimas perkelti tuo metu jau pasenusias Prūsijos normas. ENThe digging, processing and trade of amber on the present-day Baltic Sea coast of Lithuania continuously changed during centuries. Six historical subjects, which functioned in the area, comprehended the amber business very differently. Most materials on digging, processing and trade of amber are related with the Prussian seacoast, while there is a lack of corresponding data from the ranges of the seacoast, which were ruled by the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Curonian Duchy. There is also a lack of sources on the state regulation of digging, processing and trade of amber therefore a lot of space remains for the further researches of the issue. Digging and processing of amber in Prussia, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Russian Empire was regulated by strict legal norms. However in the Russian Empire attempts were made to make the regulation more strict which can be viewed as an attempt to transpose the norms, applied in Prussia, which were already old at the time. On the other hand, the extremely strict control was being refused in Prussia at the time.
