"Ne tu išlaikai šaknį, bet šaknis tave": katalikų ir žydų santykių klausimu

LT[…] Katalikų Bažnyčios vaidmuo holokausto metu ir popiežiaus Pijaus XII laikysena sulaukė didelio tyrinėtojų dėmesio. Nors paskutiniame dešimtmetyje Jonas Paulius II atliko didžiulį darbą gerindamas Bažnyčios santykius su žydais, tačiau Bažnyčios vaidmuo Antrojo pasaulinio karo metais buvo ir tebėra diskusijų objektas. Vatikano II Susirinkimo deklaracija apie Bažnyčios ir nekrikščionių santykius Nostra aetate teigia, jog būtina pasmerkti antisemitizmą ir kovoti su juo. Deklaracijoje „Mes atsimename: Šoa apmąstymas“ atsiprašoma už nuodėmes, kurias vykdė Bažnyčios sūnūs ir dukterys. Šiame dokumente siekiama išryškinti skirtumą tarp religiškai orientuoto antijudaizmo ir moderniojo rasistinio antisemitizmo. Bažnyčia XIX a. ne tik stiprino negatyvų religinį požiūrį į žydus, bet ir propagavo antipatiją moderniems socialiniams, ekonominiams, kultūriniams ir politiniams judėjimams. Bijodama modernizmo, Bažnyčia įspėdavo dėl galimo žydų suokalbio, kurio tikslas esąs pasaulio užvaldymas, esą žydai skverbiasi į krikščionių bendruomenes, priešiški krikščionių vertybėms, yra pavojingų ideologijų skleidėjai, nepatriotiški ir nelojalūs valstybėms, kurių teritorijoje gyvena. Bažnyčia nepateisino žydų persekiojimo Europoje, bet aktyviai ir neprotestavo prieš rasinę diskriminaciją ir jų išskyrimą iš krikščionių. Krikščionybės istorijos eigoje susiformavo apibendrinantis latentinis, kartais ir smarkus, atviras antižydiškumas, kuris holokausto metais neigiamai veikė ir katalikų požiūrį į žydus. Tačiau galima pastebėti Lietuvos Katalikų Bažnyčios hierarchų ir kunigų pastangas sušvelninti žydų likimą holokausto metais. [...]. EN[…] The role of the Catholic Church in times of the Holocaust and the posture of Pope Pius XII attained significant attention from the researchers. Although during the last decades Pope John Paul II performed an enormous work in order to improve the relations between the Church and Jews, the role of the Church during the WWII is still an object for discussions. The Declaration on the Relation of the Church with Non-Christian Religions of the Second Vatican Council “Nostra Aetate” states that it is necessary to condemn anti-Semitism and fight it. The declaration “We Remember: a Reflection on the Shoah“ apologizes for the sins, performed by the sons and daughters of the Church. The document attempts to highlight the difference between the religiously oriented anti-Judaism and modern racist anti-Semitism. In the 19th century the Church not only strengthened the negative religious views of the Jews but also propagated the antipathy to the modern social, economic, cultural and political movements. Afraid of the modernism, the Church warned on the potential conspiracy of the Jews with the aim of taking over the world, that the Jews penetrate the Christian communities and, being adversary to the Christian values, are disseminators of dangerous ideologies, not patriotic and not loyal to the states, on which territories they reside. The church did not justify the persecution of Jews in Europe, but did not actively express any protests against racial discrimination and their distinguishing among Christians. In the course of history of Christianity there emerged the summarizing latent and sometimes open anti-Judaism, which, during the times of the Holocaust, had a negative influence on the Catholics’ view of the Jews. However one can notice the attempts of the hierarchs and priests of the Catholic Church of Lithuania to mitigate the Jewish faith in times of the Holocaust. […].
