Reikšminiai žodžiai: Medijos; Kūnas; įkūnytas aš; Juslinis patyrimas; Sinestezija; Sekuliarinis asketizmas; Vizualumo hegemonija; Media; Body; Sensory perception; Hegemony of vision; Secular ascetism; Synesthesis.
ENThe article deals with the difficult relationship between new electronic media and human sensoria. What is the destiny of the more traditional, 'physical' forms of culture? Are the classical definitions of aesthetic experience as one that overcomes the limitations of historical time no longer valid in the face of the technological paradigm shift of the late 20th century? How are we to treat the fact that our being is fundamentally and inevitably embodied? How does it relate to the educational strategies in arts and, first of all, architecture, which has to deal with three-dimensional entities? Along with such cognitive and epistemological aspects of experiencing new media as the so-called "hegemony of vision" in the West, the economical aspect of new media and its implications for contemporary social settings is also taken into account. The article refers to many examples from the field of fine arts, popular culture and everyday life, which is treated by James Heisig as "increasingly ascetic" without being consciously aware about it. A few diagnoses and prognoses are given at the end. [From the publication]
