Principles for the selection of a common Baltic lexicon

LTLingvistinėje literatūroje yra paskelbta keletas įvairios apimties bendrų baltų kalboms žodžių sąrašų, tačiau išsamaus bendrabaltiškos leksikos registro vis dar nėra. 2004 m. Klaipėdos universitetas pradėjo projektą "Bendrabaltiškoji leksika", kurio tikslas - sudaryti bendros baltų leksikos žodyną, t. y. bendrųjų žodžių sąrašą su morfologijos, morfoneminės šaknies struktūros, semantikos pastabomis, nesileidžiant į bendrabaltiškų žodžių etimologijas. Medžiaga renkama iš etimologinių baltų kalbų žodynų bei kitų šaltinių - įvairių diachroninio pobūdžio darbų, Lietuvių kalbos žodyno (LKŽ I-XX tomų) bei slavų kalbose užfiksuotų baltiškų skolinių - apeliatyvų ir onomastikos. Bendrabaltiškųjų leksemų sąrašą sudaro ne visi giminiški žodžiai, o tik atitikmenys, t.y. to paties darybinio statuso, artimõs ar tapačiõs formaliosios struktūros bei semantikos leksemos, pateikiamos darybiniais lizdais (resp. derivacinėmis paradigmomis), kuriuos sudaro genetinis centras bei dariniai. Tolimesni dariniai (sustabarėjusios dalyvinės formos, deminutyvai, reguliarios darybos veiksmažodiniai ar būdvardiniai abstraktai ir pan.) pateikiami tik tie, kurie leidžia rekonstruoti neišlikusį ar neužfiksuotą pamatinį bendrabaltišką žodį. Sudarant žodyną, siekiama kiek įmanoma laikytis regioninio principo - įtraukti baltų kalbų tarminę medžiagą, kuri galėtų liudyti išnykusių baltų kalbų (jotvingių, sėlių, žiemgalių, kuršių) leksiką.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Baltų kalbos; Leksika.

ENSeveral lists of words, common to the Baltic languages of different volume have been published in linguistic literature however there is still no comprehensive register of common Baltic lexis. In 2004 Klaipėda University commenced the project "Common Baltic Lexis" with the aim to form a dictionary of common Baltic lexis, i. e. the list of common words with the remarks regarding morphology, morphonemic root structure and semantics without getting deep into the etymology of common Baltic words. The material was collected from etymological dictionaries of the Baltic languages and other sources, i. e. different studies of diachronic character, the Dictionary of the Lithuanian Language (volumes I-XX) and the Baltic appellative borrowings and onomastics, noted in the Slavic languages. The list of common Baltic lexemes includes not all the related words, but only equivalents, i. e. lexemes of the same formation status, a close or identical formal structure and semantics, presented as formation nests (i. e. derivational paradigms), which are formed of the genetic centre and the derivations. Only those further derivations (i. e. stiff participial forms, diminutives, verbal or adjectival abstracts of regular formation, etc.) are provided, which allow for reconstruction of the non-surviving or non-registered underlying common Baltic word. When forming the dictionary, attempts were made to stick to the regional principle, i. e. to include the Baltic languages’ dialect materials, which could evidence the lexis of the non-surviving Baltic languages (Yotvingian, Semigallian, Curonian and Selonian).
