Watershed between Eastern and Western Lithuania during the Early and Late Migration Period

LTRytų Lietuvos pilkapių kultūros pradžia ar pirmasis jos etapas sietinas su brūkšniuotosios keramikos kultūros pabaiga II a. pab. – III a. pradžioje ir žmonių migracija iš Sūduvių regiono. Brūkšniuotosios keramikos kultūros įtaka regiono raidai nebuvo vyraujanti. Matyt todėl šio laikotarpio rytinės Lietuvos materialinė kultūra atspindi bendrą Rytų Baltijos jūros regiono ir vakarų baltų kultūros horizontą, nors palyginti negausus atskirų dirbinių tipų paplitimas rodytų tam tikrą šios teritorijos periferiškumą. Kita vertus, jau romėniškajame laikotarpyje Rytų Lietuvos pilkapių kultūros teritorijoje randama išskirtinių visam Rytų Baltijos jūros regionui dirbinių. Vielbarko, Pševorsko ir Černiachovo kultūrų užgesimas ankstyvaisiais tautų kraustymosi laikais įžiebė naują Rytų Lietuvos pilkapių kultūros raidos etapą. Vėlyvaisiais tautų kraustymosi laikais pasikeitė migracijos į Rytų Lietuvos pilkapių kultūrą kryptys ir, savaime surantama, kultūrinių įtakų kryptys. Šiuo laiku reikšmingiausi Rytų Lietuvos pilkapių kultūros ryšiai buvo su Dunojaus vidurupio regionu ir teritorija tarp vakarų Bugo ir Dniestro. Ir šiuo laikotarpiu Rytų Lietuvos pilkapių kultūra išlaiko tradicinius ryšius su sūduvių kultūra.

ENThe beginning and the first stage of the barrow culture of the Eastern Lithuania should be related with the end of the hatched ceramics culture in the end of the 2nd – beginning of the 3rd century and the migration of people from the Sudovia region. The influence of the hatched ceramics culture on the development of the region was not prevalent therefore the material culture of the Eastern Lithuania of the period reflects the common horizons of the culture of the Eastern Baltic seaside region and the Western Baltics, although comparatively sparse spread of individual types of articles shows a certain periphery of the territory. On the other hand, already in the Roman period certain articles, exceptional with regard to the entire Eastern Baltic seaside region were found on the territory of the barrow culture of the Eastern Lithuania. The fading of the Wielbark, Przeworsk and Czernichow cultures in the earliest periods of the movement of nations started the new stage of development of the barrow culture in the Eastern Lithuania. In the later periods of the movement of nations, the directions of migration of the barrow culture of the Eastern Lithuania and, naturally, the cultural influences have changed. The most significant relations of the barrow culture of the Eastern Lithuania during the period were the relations with the Danube region and with the territory between the Western Bug and the Dniester. The barrow culture of the Eastern Lithuania retained its traditional relations with the Sudovian culture during the period.
