ENWhen the University of Lithuania was founded in 1922, the country had already quite a number of educated poeple capable of engaging in philosophy on professional level. The studies of philosophy were concentrated in two faculties of the University: Theological-philosophical and the Humanities. The Theological-philosophical faculty became the main centre of philosophy studies and Catholic philosophy. Conceptions and ideas in logic, epistemology, ontology, philosophy of nature, philosophy of culture, social philosophy, ethics and aesthetics were created. The first Lithuanian dictionary of terms in philosophy was compiled. The famous scholars engrossed in philosophy - S. Šalkauskis, V. Sezemanas, A. Maceina, J. Girnius and others produced what had not, until then, existed in the sphere of Lithuanian thought. They enriched the Lithuanian world with their originality and stretched out its boundaries.
