Straipsnyje remiamasi statistine informacija, 2001 m. ilgalaikių bedarbių apklausos duomenimis. [Iš leidinio]

ENLong-term unemployment has already become in Lithuania a daily and usual phenomenon. The article poses the question: what is the phenomenon of long-term unemployment? In order to analyse this complex phenomenon, in 2001 scientists of the Institute of Labour and Social Research performed the complex research "Long-term unemployed and possibilities of their integration into the labour market". The goal of this research was to evaluate the situation of long-term unemployed in the labour market and develop the trends for increasing the employment of this group. Totally, 2004 unemployed from different regions of Lithuania were questioned. This research covered a sociological survey of the long-term unemployed registered at the labour exchanges. According to the survey data, the absolute majority of the respondents registered themselves at the labour exchange in order to find a job (even 84%). However, weak vocational improvement motivation of the long-term unemployed restricts their placement possibilities. A rather low number of the respondents (7%) applied to the labour exchange in order to get a profession or be retrained. Only 1.2% of the respondents previously employed mentioned inadequate vocational education as an important reason for losing a job. [From the publication]
