Summary / Abstract:

ENIn this paper the palaeopathological data from the study of 280 horses, predominantly from medieval burial grounds, from Middle Lithuania are presented. The most common conditions noted were those that are likely to have been triggered or exacerbated by the use of these animals for traction or riding. The most prevalent of these were the ossification of the metapodial ligaments and deformations of the tarsus. [From the publication]
