ENA serious incurable disease most often affects not only the sick person, his psychological, spiritual and social spheres, but also his relatives. In modern medicine, it is important to treat not only a separate organ, but also the entire person affected by the disease, not forgetting also his relatives. After the patient finds out the diagnosis, about an incurable disease, both the patient and his family have many complex questions, to which they want to know the answers immediately (Paškevičė, 2021). For caring family members, asking or accepting help is very difficult, because people are afraid to show that they need help, that they are not able to nurse, or that they are simply afraid to let strangers into the nursing process. Loved ones need to be shown that accepting help or asking for it is not bad. The most important help for the patient's relatives is to teach how to support a sick family member emotionally and practically, adapt to the process and overcome grief and loss (Iliukevič, 2008). When communicating with the patient, you need to know that each patient has a different amount of knowledge, different needs, therefore, the individual amount and content of the information provided must be adapted. Each patient takes knowledge of an incurable disease differently. It is important to show the patient that you need to communicate with loved ones, not to close yourself in yourself, to tell how he feels (Siegle, 2022). The most important aspects for a nurse when communicating with such a patient are to have a goal, not to interrupt the patient, to listen to his wishes, not to condemn, not to whisper when the patient hears, to speak to the patient clearly and intelligibly. Maintain eye contact, respect personal space, avoid closed posture (crossed legs and arms) (Vveinhardt, 2008). Keywords: general practice nursing students, communication, patients, relatives.
