ENIn 2022, during the reconstruction of an inverted siphon culvert in Vilnius, an exploratory excavation was carried out in an area of 375 m2 on T. Kosciuškos St. and Trispalvės Avenue. An archaeological layer 0.2-2 m thick dating back to the 20th century, with finds ranging from the 17th to the 20th centuries, was discovered. The excavations revealed a masonry structure: the remains of a bridge. The masonry was made of large field stones and reddish bricks. The top and the W part of the masonry structure was disturbed. The exposed structure consisted of two longitudinally compressed parts. The bricks measured: 27.5 x 15 x 5.5 cm; ? x 13.5 x ? cm; ? x 13.5 x 5.5 cm; 27 x ? x 8 cm; and ? x 13.5 x 6.5 cm. They were bound with a whitish lime mortar with a medium-coarse gravel aggregate. The structure is thought to have been built no later than the first half of the 18th century. [From the publication]
