ENThe article looks into the activities of the Lithuanian Youth Labour Centre (YLC) in reducing youth unemployment in recent years. Research conducted by Klaipeda University Department of Social Work reveals that behaviour of a young person in the labour market depends on economic, demographic, political and cultural factors that are closely interrelated. The Youth Labour Centre provides services of counselling, information supply, mediation, empowerment and representation, which are social work functions. The consultants working at Youth Centres not only provide the necessary information on employment opportunities, they also extend a helping hand in addressing the social problems associated with unemployment. Then can one find the right way to solve a problem and identify the most appropriate way of managing a person’s professional career.
