LT2022-2023 m. „Būde“ jau skelbtuose autoriaus straipsniuose („Stabo akmuo ir akmuo stabas“, „Užtvenkta tėkmė“, „Pavirsti akmeniu“ ir „Akmeninė širdis“) nagrinėta mitinė priešprieša tarp (gyvybinės) tėkmės ir (mirtino) sąstingio, kurį įkūnija, perteikia ir simbolizuoja akmuo. Iki šiol įvairiais atžvilgiais telktasi daugiau į tėkmės stabdymo, tvenkimo akmeniu (uola) ir suakmenėjimo įvaizdžius. Sis straipsnis prasideda akmens sinonimo uola etimologija, menančia užvirtusį, užverstą arba nuvirtus}, nuverstą didelį akmenį, ir tada tiesiogiai pereina prie įveikto sąstingio ir pasiliejusios tėkmės mitinių įvaizdžių, o tai, visų pirma, kaip tik - nuversta uola ir iš (po) jos ištryškusi, pasiliejusi versmė. ENIn three or more of the previous articles by the author, the mythical images of stopping, damming up of a flow, particularly by a huge stone (rock) or a pile of stones, also of turning into stone and petrification, were examined. The present article begins with the etymology of Lith. uola “rock” which, through its immediate connection with volioti “to roll, tumble,” implies an image of a huge stone lumbered up or, conversely, tumbled down. As a lumbered-up rock banks the stream, the tum-bled-down rock, in its turn, releases it to flow freely again. As the dammed-up flow symbolizes obstruction, the released flow has very strong and widely known semantics of liberation and freedom, strictly opposite to petrification as a constraint. It is maintained in the article that this is exactly the core of so many corresponding images in folklore (tales, legends) and mythology. On the wider scale, this opposition of obstruction and release conforms to that of coagulation and (dis)solution and, finally, of cosmogony and eschatology (with soteriology involved).
