Title:
Lithuania in the Europe of regions - new geopolitical point of view
Summary / Abstract:

ENThe Central European countries' aspirations concerning their participation in the European Union and NATO are the results of the civilisation's bond that, despite the influences of Asian culture and communist ideology, has not been broken. Examining Lithuania from the perspective of the first point of geopolitical analysis, it is possible to point at this country's relations linking it with Scandinavian states and its close, although not always very friendly, connections with Poland. In this passage I particularly would like to point at these relations' character that have been shaping the contacts between our countries. The Lublin Union may serve as an example of and, simultaneously, as a proof for the fact that the European civilisation was not, as many others, the effect of imperial factors but above all it was the product of dynamic societies, smaller or larger communities, which were ready to undertake and realise miscellaneous tasks.
