ENTeacher training, re-training and professional development are being transformed in Lithuania. There are a number of directions for this transformation: from training at universities and colleges (universities of applied sciences) to concentration of processes at the three training centers that are being established in the most potent teacher training universities; looking for a variety of teacher education models such as concurrent, consecutive and alternative models, developing opportunities for professional development. The legal basis of teacher training is being reviewed, seeking to provide more freedom for teacher trainers and at the same time claiming their responsibility for the quality of teacher training.
