ENThe text proposes several ways of looking at Vilnius, Jerusalem of the North, in the works of the "Jung Wilne" group. Firstly, it outlines a story about the dynamic development of a group of translocally successful artists, which came into being thanks to the multifaceted importance of Vilnius, the place that stimulated the artists born around 1910. As the 1930s progressed, the city space became for them a place where they sensed the impending Holocaust, as is documented by the emergence of numerous catastrophic themes. Secondly, using the works of Abraham Sutzkever and Chaim Grade, the article looks at postwar representations of Vilnius’ Old Town as a memorial and autobiographical site. Keywords: Jung Wilne, Vilna, catastrophism, place of memory, autobiographical place, Jewish literature, Yiddish. [From the publication]
