[...]. [Iš teksto, p. 441]
ENIn 2016, a group of investigators assembled by the Movement for the Memorialisation of the Struggle for Lithuanian freedom (Lith. Lietuvos laisvės kovos įamžintojų sąjūdis) continued the investigation of the freedom struggle landscape in the vicinity of Balandiškis (Radviliškis district) and surveyed new and little known Lithuanian partisan war sites in Grinkiškis and Šaukotas elderships. Fieldwalking surveys were conducted at the rural birthplace of partisan supporters Povilas and Juzefa Kuraitis and of partisans Jonas, Antanas, and Petronėlė Kuraitis in Grigalaičiai and at the farmhouse of partisan supporters Antanas and Veronika Butkus in Miškiniai. The Second World War german gas mask from the family home of partisan liaison Saja in Balandiškis received special attention. The Lithuanian partisan camp and battle sites were sought in Bargailiai Forest (Praviršulio Tyrelis) and five 20th century finds were discovered: unfired cartridges, empty cartridges, and coins. Three finds: a bullet, a belt(?) buckle, and part of a clasp from a leather pouch(?) were discovered in the vicinity of the Lithuanian partisan bunker surveyed in Skerskalnis, which is between Grigalaičiai and Miškiniai villages. In order to check the data about the site of the 13 August 1949 Battle of Užpelkiai, a thorough investigation of it was begun. The site of the partisan camp was determined and archaeological data was collected about the scale and course of the Battle of Užpelkiai: the positions of the MGB troops, their assault, and the retreat of the partisans. Roughly 3000 m2 were thoroughly surveyed using a metal detector and 175 finds were discovered. Russian and German unfired cartridges, empty cartridges, and bullets, a button from an interwar Lithuanian Ministry of Communications uniform, german uniform buttons, a buckle, a belt clip with a chain, a carabiner, part of a binocular lens, a cigarette holder, a syringe needle, etc. were connected with the partisan camp and battle sites. A silver ring with a Vytis, which, it is thought, belonged to one of the signatories of the 1949 Declaration who died at the Battle of Užpelkiai: P. Bartkus or B. Liesis, received special attention.
