ENThe article discusses a recently published book on the attitudes of Lithuanian elites towards the election of Kings Władysław IV and Michał I. Among other things, the methodology used for the publication and the author’s selection of the interregna have been criticised. The reviewed book also became a pretext to recall the thesis on the dynamics of patron-client relations in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and to emphasise the specificity of those relations in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
