LTPokariu Lietuvos TSR nuteistųjų mirties bausme palaikai įvairiais etapais užkasinėti keliose skirtingose vietose. 1944–1947 m. [...]. [Iš teksto, p. 671, 673]
ENIn 2017, an excavation was conducted at the so called Orphans’ cemetery in Vilnius. Seven trenches, a total of 59.25 m2 , were excavated and 14 burials discovered. The human remains discovered in three graves had been buried in coffins brought here and buried by various medical institutions. Reburied remains, presumably human bones collected during construction work, were discovered in two graves. The remains of 16 individuals with gunshot lesions in their skulls were found in nine graves. In four instances, they had been interred individually, in three in pairs, and in two in threes The remains of the individuals who had been shot were exhumed and taken to VU MF for further testing. The 92 finds discovered in the graves belonged to the individuals who had been shot. In many cases, these were clothing elements: buttons, 2 metal zipper fragments, and 1 belt with a silver buckle. Four combs, 3 cigarette holders, and 3 eyeglass cases, two with glasses, were likewise found. Five individuals had been wearing shoes. Judging from the age and height correlation features of the discovered individuals who had been shot as well as the arrangement of their graves in the cemetery, it is possible to assert that the remains of both criminals shot at Lukiškės prison and political prisoners executed at the KGB Inner Prison were found. In one case, the identity of the remains of one individual shot at the KGB Inner Prison was confirmed by DNA testing. Relatives of an individual executed in 1958 contacted the LGRGTC in respect to a search for his remains and for this reason the archaeological investigation was initiated but his burial site was not found. It is possible to preliminarily state that so far the remains of individuals executed during 1961–1962 have been found and their possible identity should be confirmed in the future by further DNA testing. There is a high probability that the remains of Commander Adolfas Ramanauskas–Vanagas of the Lithuanian defence forces, who was executed in 1957 in a KGB interrogation cell, were hidden in this cemetery.
