Užpelkių miško kautynių vieta

LT2017 m. rugpjūtį LLKĮS ir VU IF surengė šeštąją akademinio jaunimo vasaros stovykląseminarą „Laisvės kovų atmintis“. Stovyklos metu buvo tęsiami 1949 m. rugpjūčio 13 d. Užpelkių miško kautynių vietos (Radviliškio r., Grinkiškio sen.) archeologiniai žvalgymai (ATL 2014 metais, 2015, p. 587–592; ATL 2015 metais, 2016, p. 506–509; ATL 2016 metais, 2017, p. 444–450). Aptikti radiniai perduoti saugoti į ŠAM. ENIn 2017, the LLKĮS continued the field survey of the site of the 13 August 1949 Battle of Užpelkiai forest (Radviliškis district, Central Lithuania). The expedition sought the E part of the MBG army ring encircling the Lithuanian partisan campsite. Almost 2400 m2 were surveyed and finds were discovered in a 235x190 m area (roughly 4.465 ha). A total of 46 finds were uncovered during the survey. The Russian cartridges, cartridge cases, and bullets attest to the Battle of Užpekiai Forest, the two ammunition belt buckles and pieces of two boot heel plates to the soldiers of the MGB army surrounding the partisan campsite. The shrapnel from an artillery shell points to events of the Second World War and the small aluminium pot (?) to the activities of forest hunters in the second half of the 20th century. The field survey allowed the location of the partisan campsite, the location and size of the Užpelkiai forest battle site, the recreation of the MGB army positions, the course of its attack and the partisan resistance, and various other details of the battle to be precisely determined.
