ENThe article presents an analysis of the case of the greenery situation and solutions in Vilkaviškis city. The analysis is based on the actuals territorial planning documents and inventory of green spaces of city. The case study reveals a sequence of applied technologies on the maintenance of streets trees. The right species of trees and constant professional care by specialists are essential in maintaining urban greenery in the face of climate change. The development and improvement of the green infrastructure of Vilkaviškis city is necessaire. The problem of the development of greenery system in the central city of the sparsely forested district is raised. Various project proposals (Bačkaitis, 2012, 2018), plein air`2022 material and proposals (Mituzas et al., 2022), efforts to preserve the oaks of Jonas Basanavičius Square (Žilinskas, 2021) and other steps are encouraging.
