LTStraipsnyje pirmą kartą atkreipiamas dėmesys į naujai atrastus reikšmingus liaudies skulptoriaus, žinomo Burneikos vardu, gyvenimo faktus. Dievdirbio pavardė įrašyta prie daugiafigūrės kompozicijos „Paskutinė vakarienė“, saugomos Lietuvos nacionaliniame dailės muziejuje. Remiantis palyginimais, muziejuje pastebėta daugiau jo išdrožtų skulptūrų, kurios padėjo atskleisti meistro kūrybai būdingus ypatumus. [Iš straipsnio, p. 83]
ENIn this article, attention is drawn to the newly discovered important biographical data concerning the folk sculptor known as Burneika. The god carver’s surname is ascribed to the multifigural composition The Last Supper, kept at the LNMA. Ceramic artist Genovaitė Jacėnaitė (1933–2016) from Kuršėnai provided valuable information about the god carver Burneika. By comparing different works, a number of sculptures he carved have been noticed at the museum – three small sculptures depicting the flight to Egypt taken from the LSSR Ministry of Culture Board of Museums and Cultural Monument Protection in 1977, one of St Isidor and another of St Francis kneeling before the cross. The works are characterised by a primitivist execution, decorativeness, artistic eloquence and overall harmony. Themes otherwise rarely encountered in folk sculpture are evident in Burneika’s work. Church art and printed pictures of the saints had an impact on his choice of themes and their perception. [From the publication]
