ENThe Wilno Voivodship Committee for Assistance to Polish Academic Youth was active from 1923 to 1939. Its main purpose was to provide financial aid to low-income university students. The Committee's work contributed to a significant improvement in the material conditions of students at Stefan Batory University in Wilno by providing them with a form of rent grants, food vouchers and rental assistance payments. Students also benefited from holiday camps maintained by the Commit-tee. The Committee's funds came from membership dues, income and percentages from capital, profit-making events, donations, government and self-government assistance, and other receipts from individuals and legal entities. The Committee's main fund-raising activity was the annual "Week of the Academician" campaign. The Committee's activities also fos-tered the establishment and strengthening of ties between the academic community and society, understanding the needs of students.
