Title:
Romanian lands and Lithuania. Evolution of relations from 14th to 16th century
Summary / Abstract:

ENBoth Lithuanian territories and the historical Romanian regions faced, over the medieval centuries, difficult challenges, with political and religious pressures, that were answered with efforts to firmly display a distinct identity, politically and religiously. The geographical proximity created opportunities for intense dialogues between the Great Duchy and the Voivodeship of Moldavia, promoting in the final decades of the 14th century a surprisingly wide range of bilateral liaisons, manifested through ties at the highest level, in alliances between thrones, but also on ecclesiastic, economic or personal levels between noblemen of the two countries, a variety of interactions that can only call for a more detailed research, in archives and libraries, on these testimonies of a common past dominated by good relations and cooperation.
