ENIn polish schools i Lithuania students learn Polish as native language. The teaching content covers the linguistic, literary and cultural contexts. The main goals of Polish language classes in Polilish-language schools in Lithuania coincide with the main assumptions of the core curriculum of the analogous subject in Poland. Howevwe, due to various circumstances (language, social and cultural), Polish-language teaching is marked by its distinctiveness. The article presents the core features of curricula in force in Lithuania, as well as the latest research on multiculturalism, multilingualism and students' perceptions of their identity. These unique circumstances form the basis on which to draw teaching-related conclusions. The second part of the article presents the most important assignments of Polilish-language education in Lithuania resulting from the situation that is described here.
