Ugnies dievybės problema

LTStraipsnyje analizuojama ugnies dievybės senojoje ikikrikščioniškoje lietuvių religijoje ir mitologijoje problema. Pasitelkiant tipologinę analizę, nagrinėjami visi rašytiniuose šaltiniuose minimi ugnies teonimai, aptariami ugnies vardai ir globėjai, minimi XIX a. pab. – XX a. pradžios tikėjimuose, formuluojamos hipotezės apie lietuvių ugnies dievybių pobūdį. Daroma išvada, kad ugnies dievybės įvaizdis lietuvių tradicijoje nėra vieningas, „idealaus“ vienos ugnies dievybės įvaizdžio atkurti neįmanoma. Vėlyvieji šaltiniai pateikia ne ugnies teonimus, o atskirus ugnies vardus. Įvaizdžių visuma gali būti aiškinama istorinėmis, socialinėmis aplinkybėmis, dieviškąja ambivalencija ir kt. ENThe article focuses on the problem of the deity of fire in the ancient pre-Christian religion and mythology. Based on the typological analysis, the author analysed all theonyms mentioned in written sources, discusses names and guardians of fire mentioned in beliefs of the end of 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century and formulates a hypothesis concerning the nature of Lithuanian deities of fire. The author concludes that the image of deity of fire in Lithuanian tradition is not consistent and that it is impossible to recreate the “ideal” image of one deity of fire. Late sources provide names of fire, not theonyms of fire. Images as a whole could be interpreted with regard to historic and social circumstances, divine ambivalence etc.
