ENThe first stove tiles found their way into Utena Regional Museum in 1962. The then director Karolis Keras handed over 19 stove tiles and pieces of them which had been discovered at the site of Vyžuonos manor in the Utena district, between 1986 and 2000, the museum acquired 674 items of stove tiles and fragments of them found during archaeological surveys and investigations conducted in the Utena district and on the site of the old town of Utena. The investigations were carried out by the author of this article, Gintautas Zabiela, and Rimvydas Laužikas, Bronius Dakanis, Jonas Stankus, Laura Deveikytė, Aušra Zalepūgienė, Andra Simniškytė-Strimaitienė, Ilona Vaškevičiūtė, Marius Mockus and Evelina Simanavičiūtė. Today, the museum boasts 693 items of stove tiles and fragments of them dating from the period from the early 16th century to the first half of the 20th century. Most of the stove tiles are coated with green and brown glaze. Two pieces have a polychromatic glaze. Floral decoration is prevalent, and there are also pieces with dentil ornamentation, concave strips, plaiting, and geometric aquiline decor. Some of the undecorated stove tiles from the second half of the 20th century are coated with white glaze. There are two stove tiles with the coat-of-arms of the Ogiński family, and one piece with the Leliwa coat of arms. [From the publication]
