Lieplaukė. Bažnyčios varpinė ir varpai

LTŠv. Jurgio Lieplaukės bažnyčios varpinė gražiai įsilieja į bendrą sakralinių pastatų kompleksą. Ji stovi dešinėje centrinių šventoriaus vartų pusėje. Pastatas dviejų aukštų, sudėtinio tūrio, kvadratinio plano (4,35 x 4,35 m). Pamatai akmens mūro, pastato karkasas apkaltas išilginėmis lentomis. Stogas keturšlaitis, užsibaigiąs nedideliu metaliniu kryžiumi. Jis ir karnizas, skiriantis pirmą ir antrą aukštus, apkalti skarda. Varpinė pastatyta 1853 m. Pastatas ne kartą remontuotas. Joje kabo vienas didelis varpas, kuris pašvęstas Šv. Jurgiui. Varpo vardas sutampa su bažnyčios titulu. Instrumentas perlietas 1939 m. už parapijiečių suaukotas lėšas J. Masalsko dirbtuvėse, Kaune. Varpas puoštas Gedimino stulpų ornamentine reljefine juosta. Jis prie pakabos pritvirtintas senaisiais apkaustais, kuriuos 1897 m. padarė kalvis Juozapas Šlima. Skambinama ne įsiūbuojant patį instrumentą, o tik jo širdį. Senasis varpas suskilo 1936 m. Bažnyčios palėpėje yra padėta iš bokštelio iškelta ir nebenaudojama signatūra. Peržiūrėjus dokumentus, nustatyta, kad vieną varpą iš Lieplaukės paėmė 1831 m. sukilėliai, o du – per I Pasaulinį karą vokiečiai. ENThe belfry of Lieplaukė Church of St. George blends beautifully into the overall complex of the sacred buildings. The belfry used to stand to the right of the main gate to the churchyard. The building has two tiers, a complex space and a square plan (4.35 x 4.35 m). Built on a stone foundation, the belfry boasts longitudinal board siding. The hipped roof has a small metal cross at the top. The roof and the cornice that divides the two tiers are tin clad. Constructed in 1853, the belfry was subject to several repairs. It has one large bell dedicated to St. George. The bell’s name is the same as that of the church. The bell was recast in 1939 in J. Masalskas’ workshop in Kaunas for donations of the parish. The instrument is adorned with a relief ribbon of the Columns of Gediminas. It is fixed to the yoke with the old bracket cast by the blacksmith Juozapas Šlima in 1897. The bell is sounded only by swinging its clapper. The old bell split in 1936. The attic of the church houses a signature that was removed from the tower and is no longer in use. Documents indicate that one of the bells was removed from Lieplaukė in 1831 by the rebels, while two bells were taken by the Germans in World War I.
