ENThe article analyses the promotions of officials of the treasury of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania between the late sixteenth century and the early 1630s. The author presents models of careers in the Lithuanian treasury at all levels of the clerical hierarchy and points out the regularities emerging at that time. The group of treasury courtiers and their connections with their superiors was found to be particularly interesting. In the first half of the seventeenth century, this group included both clients of treasurers, who identified themselves with the person of the patron rather than with the institution, and relatively numerous offi cials permanently attached to the treasury.
