Tendencies of the school choice and it‘s influence on the education quality

LT[…] Šio straipsnio tikslas – atskleisti mokyklos pasirinkimo ir jo ryšio su ugdymo kokybe tendencijas. […] Empiriniu tyrimu siekta nustatyti, ar egzistuoja ryšys tarp mokyklos pasirinkimo ir mokyklą keičiančių mokinių lyties, mokyklos keitimų skaičiaus, tėvų išsilavinimo, gyvenamosios vietovės, ugdymo pakopos, kurioje mokosi mokinys, ir pasirinktos mokyklos tipo. Iš viso tyrime dalyvavo 1078 mokiniai, kurie 2003 m. keitė mokyklą, ir 999 jų tėvai. Respondentai atstovavo 159 mokyklas iš beveik visų šalies savivaldybių. […] Atliktas tyrimas leidžia teigti, kad mokyklos pasirinkimas – realus švietimo reiškinys, kuriame dalyvauja mokiniai, jų tėvai, mokyklos ir visuomenė. Apskritai mokyklos pasirinkimo galimybių vertinimų skirtumai tarp mokymo pakopų, daugiau ir mažiau išsilavinusių tėvų vaikų, miesto ir kaimo gyventojų nėra labai dideli. Daugiau galimybių rinktis mokyklą turi dideliuose miestuose gyvenantys mokiniai. […] Tėvai aktyviai dalyvauja mokyklos pasirinkime, kai jų vaikai keičia mokyklą, ypač jei pastarieji mokosi žemesnėse klasėse. […] Kuo vyresni vaikai – tuo tėvai labiau linkę dalintis su vaikais atsakomybe ir netgi visai perleisti šią atsakomybę vaikams. Labiau išsilavinę tėvai jaučia daugiau atsakomybės už vaikų išsilavinimą ir todėl jų įtaka renkantis mokyklą yra didesnė. […] Išryškėjo išskirtinis ugdymo kokybės vaidmuo renkantis mokyklą. Geresnės ugdymo kokybės siekiai yra reikšmingiausia mokyklos keitimo priežastis didžiajai daugumai keičiančių mokyklą mokinių ir jų tėvų. EN[...] The purpose of this article is to reveal trends of school choice and its link with quality of education. [...] The empirical study aims at establishing whether there is connection between school choice and the pupil’s gender, number of school changes, parents’ educational background, type of residential location, level of education of the pupil and the type of the school selected. The study covered 1,078 pupils who in 2003 changed their school and 999 parents. Respondents represented 159 schools almost from all municipalities of the country. […] The study performed allows stating that the choice of school is a real educational phenomenon involving pupils, their parents, schools and the society. Differences in evaluations of opportunities to choose a school between levels of education, children of more or less educated parents and urban and rural areas are not very significant. More opportunities to choose a school are available for pupils in large cities. [...] Parents actively participate in choice of school when their children change the school, especially if the latter study at lower grades. [...] The older the children – the more parents tend to share the responsibility with them and even transfer the responsibility entirely to children. Better educated parents feel more responsible for their children’s education and their impact on choosing the school is bigger. [...] An exceptional role of educational quality in choosing school has come prominent. Pursuit of better quality education is the most important reason for changing the school for the majority of pupils changing school and their parents.
