ENCultural heritage is the cultural values of ethnic, historical, aesthetic or scientific importance that have been handed down over generations and it is divided into tangible and intangible heritage. Tangible cultural heritage is divided into immovable cultural property and movable cultural property. According to the 2014-2020 Programme for the Updating of Cultural Objects, at the end of 2019, the country's Register of Cultural Objects will contain around 26,000 cultural heritage objects. Cultural heritage is a resource of strategic importance for the country, which is continuously created by society during its historical development, reflects the historical and cultural development of the country, and plays an important role in preserving and fostering national identity. Following the experience of foreign countries and good examples in Lithuania, cultural heritage in terms of its actualization has a huge potential for adaptation to the social, economic, cultural and educational needs of society – a community centre, an arts incubator, a school, a cultural institution or other institutions or organisations that are needed by the community can be housed in a cultural heritage object that has been cleaned-up and adapted. According to the Register of Cultural Property of the Republic of Lithuania, at the end of 2019, 469 properties were registered in Klaipeda City Municipality, or 1.4% of the total number of movable and immovable properties registered in the country. Key words: heritage, real estate values, Klaipeda Castle and Bastion Complex, Complex of bastions. [From the publication]
