Etniniai muzikos įrašai pianolai

LTMuzika mechaniniam pianinui – pianolai – dar nėra iki galo ištyrinėta ir įvertinta. Dėl mechaninio muzikos įrašymo muzikologams iki šiol kelia įtarimų tokių įrašų meninė vertė. Vis dėlto gerokai patobulintas instrumentas leido užfiksuoti natūralią pianisto interpretaciją. Tik pastaraisiais dešimtmečiais pradėta tyrinėti žymiausių atlikėjų įrašus pianolai. Jie gerokai papildė ir praplėtė muzikos įrašų istorijos suvokimą ir atskleidė naują muzikologinių tyrimų lauką. Greta gausybės klasikinės muzikos įrašų didelę dalį sudaro vadinamieji „etniniai“ ritinėliai pianolai. Tai pirmiausia įvairių tautinių bendrijų, susiformavusių jAV po Pirmojo pasaulinio karo, inicijuoti ir įrašyti ritinėliai. Tarp jų yra beveik 350 ritinėlių su lietuviška muzika. Pagrindinis straipsnio tikslas – detaliau paanalizuoti etninės muzikos ritinėlius, išleistus jungtinėse Amerikos Valstijose. Straipsnyje apžvelgiamas istorinis-socialinis kontekstas, charakterizuojamas mechaninės muzikos „aukso amžius“ (1920‒1940), nagrinėjami atskirų jAV tautinių bendrijų mechaninės muzikos įrašai, atlikėjai ir repertuaras. Daroma išvada, kad etninės muzikos ritinėliai pianolai yra reikšmingi dėl unikalaus muzikos fiksavimo būdo, unikalių (kitose laikmenose neaptinkamų) muzikos įrašų, užfiksuoto repertuaro ir atlikėjų. Visa tai atspindi tiek atskirų tautinių jAV bendruomenių etninės muzikos raidą, tiek besiformuojančią nacionalinę jAV muziką bei pasaulinės masinės popkultūros užuomazgas. ENMusic for mechanical (player) pianos continues to remain understudied and undervalued. The mechanical principle of recording music tends to raise questions between musicologists regarding the artistic value of such recordings. The significant advancement of the instrument which allowed to convey a pianist’s natural interpretation, on the other hand, is underappreciated. For this reason, recordings for player piano played by the most famous performers have only begun to be researched in recent decades. They considerably enhanced and expanded the understanding of the history of recorded music, as well as unveiled a new field in musicological research. In addition to a significant number of classical music recordings, a substantial portion is comprised of so-called “ethnic” piano rolls. The rolls were primarily initiated and recorded by diverse ethnic communities, which formed in the United States after World War I. over 350 rolls with Lithuanian music exist among all of them. The aim of this article is to provide an in-depth analysis the ethnic rolls released in the United States. In the terms of the aim, the article consists of a review of the sociohistorical background, the characterization of the “golden era” of mechanical music (1920–1940), and the examination of mechanical music records, performers, and repertoire of specific ethnic communities in the U.S.A. It is concluded that ethnic piano rolls for player pianos are significant due to their unique way of recording music, distinct recordings (which are not present in other media), repertoire and performers. All of this reflects the development of ethnic music in various communities across the United States, as well as the emergence of American national music and the beginnings of global mass – pop – culture.
