ENThis text presents the activities undertaken by the state administrative apparatus - through an appropriate choice of political-property-based criteria and electoral mechanism - aiming to limit the number of nobility/gentry possessing passive and active electoral rights, and to eliminate undesirable candidates (from the authorities’ point of view) from political positions. The discussion is interesting because, in contrast to the Ukranian guberniyas where research of this kind has been partly carried out by Daniel Beauvois, not much research has hitherto been undertaken with regard to the Belorussian ones.
