ENOne of the traditional religious minorities in Lithuania are Old Believers. One of the first Old Believers family in Lithuania was Pimonov family. They was one of the first Old Believers families which one’s moved to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (hereinafter - the Grand Duchy of Lithuania). The part of this territory now belongs to our day’s Lithuanian territory. The heritage of Lithuanian Old Believers is closely connected with the religious and ethnic diversity of the capital and the whole country. The religious, historical and anthropological aspects of the sacred heritage of the Saints are closely linked to the material and natural heritage. Spiritual heritage includes the truths of the faith and theological ideas embodied primarily in Old Believers’ worship, celebrations, rites, and chanting from Byzantium through Russia, as well as spiritual connections with saints and their parishioners, icon worship, unique Old Believers sign singing, and the like. The material heritage of the ancients is further divided into immovable - church, public and farm buildings, material and natural forms of various materials, and movable - icons, church books and articles. However, the cultural heritage of the old Pimonovs is a very peculiar and exclusive theme. Pimonovs were famous figures of the Old Believer Church, businessmen and patrons, politicians and public persons. They were known in the history of Lithuania and Poland since the end of 19th century until the 1940.The Old Believers of Vilnius and Poland were united by Pimonovs from 1920 until 1939. At the end of the First World War, Pimonovs returned to Vilnius, where they contributed to the revival of the Old Believers’ community, carried out socio-political, cultural, educational and religious activities in Lithuania and later in Poland. From the beginning World War II to Pimonov family started really hard and painful days. Pimonovs were forced to leave Lithuania to the West. Family members were going different ways. Some of them settled in Austria, France, Poland, others moved to the USA. The most famous and well know Pimonovs in public who were active were Aristarchus, Arseny, Boris, Georgy Pimonov, and Leonid, son of Vasily Pimonov. As well there were a few well known active women: Arseny’s wife Stepanida, their daughter Irina, and Arseny’s sister Elena. Pimonovs were not only the most famous family of Old Believers in Lithuania and Poland, but also one of the richest in Vilnius. Because since 1900 until 1939 representatives of the Pimonov family had a considerable real estate, the article mentions Moses, Aristarchus and Arseny, who had the most property in Vilnius. After analyzing the history of the Pimonovas family, it can be stated that the Pimonovas were a famous and rich family of Old Believers in Lithuania. Later, in 1920-1939 in Poland too. The real estate of Pimonovs in the territory of present-day Lithuania consisted of manors, houses, buildings and land plots. Thus, they were one of the most prominent Old Believers in the twentieth century. In the history of Lithuanian and Polish Old Believers, however, this real estate of Pimonovs is extremely important not only for Old Believers, but also for Lithuanian culture and history.
