ENThe Macikai Camps are prison structures of two totalitarian regimes - Nazi and Soviet. Due to the diversity of the national groups imprisoned there, their experiences, the complex of this camp has become a unique object of exceptional historical and cultural significance on the national and international scale. Historiography has analyzed the development of the history of the Macikai Camps, however, it can be noticed that so far academic discourse has not paid more attention to researching the memoirs of prisoners of war and civilians. By the way, the ego-documents reflecting the micro-world of imprisoned persons, in which the narratives conveying "atrocity experiences" are captured, help to reveal the characteristics of the violent system and keep the criminal activities of totalitarian political regimes in the collective memory. In this article after examining the experiences unfolding in the memoirs and identifying the dominant narratives, it is possible to assess what is important to emphasize in the discourse of the culture of remembrance, which would not be far from the authentic experiences of prisoners of war and prisoners of GULAG. Based on the memoirs, the aim is to analyze the narratives formed by the memory (or memoirs) groups of the Macikai Camps, summarizing their content and systematizing the plots that dominate them: conditions in prisons, relations with the management of the camps, attempts to escape, etc. Keywords: Macikai, Stalag 331 (I C), Stalag Luft VI, 184 Prisoner of War Camp, 2652 Special Hospital, Corrective Labour Colony Number 3.
