ENThe article is a publication of the note by Petr Aleksandrovich Valuev as the Minister of the Interior, now kept in the State Archives of the Russian Federation in the Alexander II fund, about the policy pursued in the Western Province and the Baltic provinces in the period after the suppression of the Polish uprising of 1863–1864. The memo is dated August 8, 1864 and was prepared by P.A. Valuyev for Alexander II after the meeting in Krasnoe Selo in August 7, 1864 and the discussion of the indicated problem. The provisions formulated in the note, supported by statistical data on the population of these regions, reflected the opinion of the Minister of the Interior on the excessive excess of the Russification policy pursued after the suppression of the Polish uprising of 1863–1864 in the Western region.
