LTSantrauka Žarėnų valsčiaus sakralinių pastatų ir parapijų trobesių architektūra Marija Rupeikienė, Antanas Rupeika Sakraliniai pastatai stovi Žarėnuose, Lauko Sodoje ir Medingėnuose. Žarėnuose yra katalikų bažnyčia, varpinė, smulkiųjų sakralinių statinių, dvejos kapinės, kapinių koplyčia ir keli parapijos trobesiai. Kvartale tarp šiaurinių kapinių ir šventoriaus stovėjo sinagoga. Bažnyčia medinė, dvibokštė, trinavė, pseudobazilikinės erdvės. Jos architektūra nevientisa. Eksterjere originaliai susipina modernizuotos neogotikinės formos su santūriomis modernizuoto orderio detalėmis ir įvairia lentelių apkala. Interjere dominuoja moderni stilizuota trinavė erdvė su neogotikiniais įrangos elementais ir prie jų derančiais sienų ir lubų dekoratyvios tapybos fragmentais. Varpinė – nesudėtingų etninės architektūros formų, priklauso retesniam varpinių tipui: joje yra dviejų paskirčių patalpos – varpinė ir lavoninė; netradicinė ir varpinės statybos vieta – už bažnyčios apsidės. Šventorius netaisyklingo šešiakampio plano, nelygaus reljefo, aptvertas akmens mūro tvora, kurioje įrengti vieni didieji vartai ir ketveri siauri varteliai. Miestelio pietinėje dalyje esančiose katalikų kapinėse stovi koplyčia.Ji vientiso tūrio, sumūryta iš akmenų ir raudonų plytų, stačiakampio plano. Koplyčia – lakoniškų architektūros formų, vidaus erdvė dengta mediniu cilindriniu skliautu. Kapinės aptvertos akmens mūro tvora, kurioje įrengti dveji vartai. Dabar senojoje klebonijos sodyboje stovi klebonija ir du ūkiniai trobesiai. Lauko Sodoje yra katalikų bažnyčia, varpinė, smulkiųjų sakralinių statinių, klebonijos sodyba. Bažnyčia medinė, nesudėtingų formų, kuriose susipina etninės ir profesionaliosios architektūros elementai; interjere ryškūs stilizuoti neobaroko ir neoklasicizmo bruožai.Varpinė – etninės architektūros, nesudėtingų formų; gyvumo jai teikia netradicinis antrojo tarpsnio sprendimas. Šventorius netaisyklingo keturkampio plano, aptvertas akmens mūro tvora, kurioje įrengti dveji vartai. Klebonijos sodyboje stovi klebonija ir du ūkiniai trobesiai. Medingėnuose yra katalikų bažnyčia, varpinė, smulkiųjų sakralinių statinių, likęs senosios klebonijos sodybos rūsys. Bažnyčia medinė, dvibokštė, pseudobazilikinės erdvės. Jos eksterjere dominuoja neogotikinės formos, esama stilizuotų orderio elementų, o langų apatinių prikalčių dekoras būdingas etninei architektūrai. Interjere taip pat pastebima neogotikinių ir modifikuotų orderinių formų stilistinė jungtis. Varpinė sumūryta iš akmenų ir raudonų plytų, dviejų tarpsnių, kvadratinio plano. Ji istorizmo laikotarpio, lakoniškos architektūros, su stilizuotais orderio elementais. Šventorius netaisyklingo aštuonkampio plano, lygaus reljefo, aptvertas akmens mūro tvora, kurioje yra didieji vartai ir treji varteliai. Atokiau nuo šventoriaus įkurta klebonijos sodyba. ENSacral buildings stand in Žarėnai, Lauko Soda and Medingėnai. In Žarėnai there are a Catholic church, a belfry, small sacral buildings, two cemeteries, a cemetery chapel, and several parish buildings. There was also a synagogue in the block between the northern cemetery and the churchyard. The church is wooden, two-tower, three-aisle pseudobasilic. Its architecture is of fragmented character. In the exterior, the modernized Neo-Gothic forms are originally intertwined with restrained details of the modernised order and various plank siding. The interior is dominated by a modern stylised three-aisle space with Neo-Gothic elements and fragments of decorative paintings on walls and ceilings matching them. Belfry is of simple ethnic architecture forms and belongs to a rather rare type of belfries; it has two purpose rooms: a bell tower and a mortuary; moreover, the belfry construction site is unconventional, situated behind the church apse. The churchyard is of an irregular hexagonal plan, uneven relief, fenced by a stone masonry wall with one large and four narrow gates. There is a chapel in the Catholic cemetery in the southern part of the town. It is of a simple size, made of stones and red bricks, rectangular in the plan. The chapel’s architecture forms are laconic; the interior space is covered with a wooden cylindrical vault. The cemetery is surrounded by a stone masonry fence with two gates. Now in the old parsonage homestead there is a parsonage and two outbuildings. In Lauko Soda, there is a Catholic church, a belfry, small sacral buildings, and parsonage homestead.
