Retos segės iš III-iojo Viešvilės kapinyno

ENFour rare brooches found during archaeological investigations carried out in the Viešvilė Cemetery III (Jurbarkas District) have been described in the present article. Three of them are close to so-called equal-armed brooches recalling ribbon in their shape recalls a ribbon. The fourth brooch was found in a child’s grave no. 35 and attributed to the group of flat openwork brooches.The brooch is decorated with two stylised animal heads and bands imitating weaving. No analogies for this brooch have been found yet in Lithuanian archaeological material. The author discusses the possible origin and chronology of the brooches found in Viešvilė cemetery III.
