Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje trumpai apžvelgiama Mažosios Lietuvos istorijos muziejaus archeologinio rinkinio kompletavimo istorija nuo muziejaus įsikūrimo 1924 m. iki 2020 m., supažindinama su svarbiausiomis muziejuje saugomų archeologinių eksponatų grupėmis vykdant tyrimus Vakarų Lietuvoje, Klaipėdos piliavietėje ir senamiestyje. Tuo pačiu keliamas klausimas dėl paskutinį dešimtmetį perduodamų didelių kiekių archeologinių radinių apskaitos, tvarkymo ir išsaugojimo. Raktiniai žodžiai: archeologiniai radiniai, radinių perdavimo-priėmimo aktas, centralizuoti fondai. [Iš leidinio]

ENThe History Museum of Lithuania Minor is a budgetary institution of Klaipėda City Municipality, which was established in 1924 as Klaipėda Region Museum. In 1938, it contained 1,545 exhibits, of which 470 were archaeological. During the Second World War, the museum’s finds scattered. In 1949, the Soviets established a new museum and the finds were brought from Kretinga Museum of Local Lore, which included the museum’s old exhibits. The number of exhibits in the archaeological collection of Klaipėda Region Museum began to grow after the beginning of archaeological research in 1966 in Girkaliai cemetery (P. Kulikauskas), and in 1974, in Bandužiai cemetery (L.Vaitkunskienė). In 1970, after the beginning of archaeological research in Klaipėda Old Town (K. Mekas), the collection of archaeology began to grow rapidly. Between 1975 and 1989, archaeologists of Klaipėda branch of the Institute of Conservation of Monuments (V.Žulkus, R.Sprainaitis, J.Genys) transferred 17,348 finds from 70 objects to the museum. Between 1990 and 2000, the museum’s archaeological collection was supplemented with 32,651 exhibits. In 2020, there were 132,419 exhibits in the museum, of which 66,620 are exhibits of the archaeological collection, among which the finds of Žardė, Bandužiai settlements, Bandužiai cemetery, Slengiai and Vidgiriai cemetery, Klaipėda Old Town and castle site should be distinguished. The large quantities of exhibits call for more effective measures to preserve them for future generations. [From the publication]
