ENThe paper presents the continuing research of Kaunas City Museum funds related to the library of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU). The aim of this paper is to present the publications that may have been the property of the composer Mikas Petrauskas, the circumstances of their access to the University Library, the volume of the collection, to present the provenances and the most interesting publications. The article is based on data obtained from KTU library. Mikas Petrauskas, the composer, singer, choir organizer and conductor, educator, spent most of his life abroad due to historical circumstances. He studied in St. Petersburg, later in Paris and Italy, and he spent almost 23 years of his creative period of life in the USA, where he performed as a singer, organized Lithuanian choirs, directed them, built his own operettas, published music publications and established the Lithuanian Conservatory of Music. Shortly after his death, 674 items of publications (written pieces of music and books) as well as the manuscripts of Mikas Petrauskas’ works were transferred to the library of Vytautas Magnus University (now – KTU): in 1939 – as “The Gift of Mr. Petrauskas” and in 1942 – as “The Legacy of Mikas Petrauskas”. The donor could be both his brother Kipras Petrauskas and his son Adakris, who in 1944 emigrated to the West.A large number of musical publications and manuscripts in the 8th decade of the 20th century were handed over to the newly founded Kipras Petrauskas Memorial Museum, however, almost all of the books remained in the University Library and were transferred to the City Library, Vilnius University Library, and Kaunas Institute of Medicine. According to the University Library records and notes on the publications, i.e. signature, city and date of acquisition, it is possible to partially reconstruct when and what publications M. Petrauskas purchased, for what purposes, which fiction was most attractive to him, and what his philosophical views were. [From the publication]
